A MESSAGE TO OUR NEIGHBORS: THE WEHO SPIRIT
Whether you are a Nashville native who remembers the industrial hum of the original warehouses, a new resident unpacking boxes in one of our 3,000+ new homes, or a visitor discovering our creative pulse for the first time—welcome home.
Wedgewood-Houston has achieved something rare: "critical mass" without losing its soul. As we look at the gleaming mass-timber of the Nashville Warehouse Co. and the luxury of the May Hosiery campus, we want to pause and say thank you. We are profoundly grateful to the "Originals"—the businesses and artists who invested in this dirt before it was "cool." You believed in the grit of these blocks long before the world was watching. We are equally grateful to the new families, retailers, and gathering spots that now call this home. Together, you’ve transformed WeHo from an industrial corridor into a thriving neighborhood built on belief.
EDITORIAL: THE LONG ROAD TO MARTIN & MERRITT
After years of community meetings and persistent advocacy, the Martin & Merritt Project has officially cleared its final legislative hurdle. Council Member Terry Vo has given the green light, and the Metro Council has formally approved the plan—nearly ten months after the Planning Commission’s initial nod.
The project is set to transform the corner of Martin and Merritt with 200 housing units and a boutique neighborhood hotel. However, the mood is one of cautious relief. While the legislative "yes" is a milestone, neighbors are concerned about the "when." With years of carrying costs already accrued, there is a worry that current economic headwinds may delay the project further. WeHo remains a litmus test for whether Nashville’s development process can keep pace with our neighborhood's actual momentum.
RETAIL SHIFT: BARISTA PARLOR SCALES BACK
In a strategic pivot, Barista Parlor has confirmed it will no longer proceed with its corporate headquarters and roasting hub at May Hosiery Mills. Simultaneously, the brand has closed its newly opened retail location at GEODIS Park. While we are sad to see these doors close, it serves as a reminder to support our local shops daily. In a volatile economy, your morning latte is a vote for the businesses that call this district home to stay and thrive.
COMMUNITY CORNER: POST-EASTER GRATITUDE
The Hunt on Merritt
If you missed The Hunt on Merritt—our fourth annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt—you missed a quintessential WeHo moment. A massive thank you to our hosts, James and Shannon, for once again opening their space and hearts to the district. These traditions are the fabric of our community. If you see James sitting on the front porch this spring, please be sure to say hello! And for everyone else: mark your calendars now for next year.
