Nashville to Host Grand Juneteenth Celebration at Historic Fort Negley, Uniting Community in Freedom and Culture

The heart of Nashville's Wedgewood Houston neighborhood will once again beat with the spirit of freedom, unity, and cultural pride as Fort Negley hosts its annual Juneteenth Celebration on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:45 PM. This monumental event, presented by Juneteenth615 in conjunction with the African American Cultural Alliance, is a must-attend for all Nashvillians and visitors, offering a powerful blend of history, entertainment, and community engagement.

Juneteenth commemorates the day, June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, delivering the news of freedom to the last enslaved African Americans, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Fort Negley, a site of immense historical significance built by formerly enslaved and free Black laborers during the Civil War, provides a poignant and powerful backdrop for this celebration of liberation and resilience.
